1 Peter 1:9: Obtaining The Outcome Of Your Faith, The Salvation Of Your Souls.

1 Peter 1:9

Obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls. (ESV)

Have you ever considered what is the outcome of your faith? This should be a simple thing for all those who claim the name of Christ to agree on. Peter reminds us that the salvation of our souls is the outcome of our faith. Christ died for our sins. He has made us a new creation in Him. We now have our sins forgiven, and the Holy Spirit dwells within us. We have been given Christ's righteousness.

Salvation is something that we think about in the past tense. However, there is the aspect of salvation that you have not experienced if you are reading this devotional! You are not in heaven yet. When we are standing before God the Father, our sinful nature covered completely by the righteousness of Christ the Son, we will experience the final and complete realization of our salvation. This is the outcome of our faith.

It is troubling to see what many "preachers" today describe as the outcome of our faith. Healings, miracles, and financial prosperity seem to be the things that we hear as the outcome of our faith. After all, God loves you and wants what is best for you. Therefore, God wants you to have all of the material possessions this world has to offer, and he wants for you to never suffer.

What do these "preachers" say if you do not have all of these material things? You do not have enough faith. What do they say if you are struggling with pain or debilitating sickness? You do not have enough faith. Friend, the outcome of our faith is not financial prosperity. The outcome of our faith is not miracles. The outcome of our faith is not physical healing. The outcome of our faith is salvation from sin!

Have your eyes become clouded from seeing the glorious outcome of your faith? Take a moment and thank the Lord for your salvation. Turn your focus from the things of this world. They are not the outcome of your faith. Look up to the Lord, and give him glory.
